I’m Dreaming of a White Birthday

I am now the answer to life, the universe, and everything.

I am also, I just learned, a primary pseudoperfect number.

Which is awesome because why would I be really perfect when I can be pseudoperfect?

Don’t answer that. That was rhetorical.

And the weather forecast is calling for snow.

I know we were all excited about a White Christmas, the first in a decade on the West Coast. Well, that my friends, pales in comparison to my first White Birthday since moving away from the ‘Peg at the tender age of 6.

Maybe the universe is recognizing my new status as the answer to life, the universe and everything.

I may have to change my author name to Oracle of the Equinox. It has a certain ring to it don’t you think?

Again, rhetorical.

So, in keeping with a year-old tradition (it can still be a tradition, even if we did it only once). The Oracle of the Equinox requests a birthday limerick from you. Extra points if you can use the word ‘Oracle.’ Which should be challenging since not much rhymes with Oracle.

No swears; I want to keep my PG rating.

  1. There once was a man in Nantucket
Who gargled with scotch from a bucket
What does this have to do
    With the birthday of you?
Yes, that was the intent, now oh… hecky-darn!

  2. Jennifer Moran says:

    I accept the challenge……….

There was a wise lady, an oracle
    Who was a woman categorical
    She had a special day
That went all her own way
When she sang Happy Birthday, it was rhetorical.

  3. There once was a girl from the ‘Peg’
Who tap danced her way to a keg
    Much beer she did drink
‘Til her arm got a kink
For help birthday girl had to beg.

    Sadly, no oracle.
I think Jennifer took the only two words in the world that rhyme with that. Well done!

  4. womaninblack says:

A snow fall on the coast in the west
For a birthday is simply the best
    It’s hard to rhyme oracle
    But ‘phantasmagorical’
Surely scores high in the test?

    Happy birthday!

  5. Paul says:

I’m too tired right now to write a
limerick – you see? How oft do ya
    see slick enjambment
    so sadly dement
like speech slurred, a limerick. Boo-ya!

    Happy belated birthday.

  6. Sarah says:

“Happy Birthday!” she told me (the oracle).
I said, “You’ve made a mistake, utmost probable.
“You see, I look like her
She’s like my twin” I inferred

(Though for some reason I don’t know how to end this, without getting in trouble… so the oracle right? Does that mean she has wings? I always imagined oracle’s with wings, and a wand, but then that’s severely crossing over into “tooth fairy” territory. Maybe she wears a cape?)

Hmmm… Maybe I could end it this way…

“Oh! Trust me. This is not allegorical.” (?)

    How about a simple:
“Happy Birthday! To my (adorable) ‘twin’.

    Done, done and done!
